    Rules & Regulations

    1. Production Companies must be fully self-contained. No services are provided at The Newhall Ranch (restrooms, power, water, waste disposal etc).
    2. Film LA Permit or Ventura County Film Commission Permit Required depending on locations utilized.
    3. All projects must be preapproved, contracted and insured in accordance with Newhall Film’s policies prior to ranch entry.
    4. Delivery of equipment, trucks, sets etc, may not precede the first contractual day.
    5. Security officers used in conjunction with production in any manner must be in compliance with the California State Standards and possess required documentation on their person and display it when requested. Crew members may not be used as security officers.
    6. All trash generated by production companies must be cleared away and lawfully removed from ranch premises. The ranch dumpsters are for Ranch use only.
    7. All crew and/or personal vehicles must be parked in the designated crew parking area only.
    8. Production vehicles are not allowed on grass areas or farm fields without written permission and must stay on interior ranch roads.
    9. All production vehicles must comply with posted speed limits. Newhall is a working ranch with tractors and other machinery regularly on the interior ranch roads. Speeding vehicles/drivers will be asked to leave the property for the safety of all.
    10. No friends, family or personal pets (including dogs) are allowed on the Ranch, only those listed on the call sheet. There are no exceptions to this rule unless written permission is granted by ranch management in advance of the shoot day(s).
    11. All persons associated with production are to stay in the area rented by the production company. Hiking, touring, foot traffic or sightseeing is prohibited. Production is responsible for providing shuttle vehicles for the crew.
    12. Sets do not always conform to general construction guidelines. Licensee is responsible for inspecting and determining if the set construction is suitable for the intended use. The Ranch does not maintain sets and is not responsible for their condition.
    13. Children are not allowed on the premises unless the child is a cast member with a work permit and accompanied by a welfare worker/teacher. Children under the age of eighteen must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
    14. Smoking is restricted to designated areas.
    15. Drinking alcoholic beverages on the Ranch is prohibited.
    16. All organic matter, plants, weeds, seed and grasses must be preapproved by Ranch management before being brought onto the property.
    17. No chemicals of any kind may be used on the property without written approval by ranch management.
    18. Oak trees are protected by state law and the ground beneath them is limited to foot traffic only. Nailing to or trimming of any trees is prohibited. Tying to the trees must be pre-approved by Ranch management.
    19. The Newhall Ranch is located in a wildlife corridor. The terrain of the premises includes holes, rocks, hills, hazardous vegetation (including poison oak and sumac). In addition, wildlife such as rattlesnakes, bobcats and mountain lions frequent the region. Entry is at your own risk.
    20. The Newhall Ranch recognizes a 14 hour film day and 12 hour prep/strike day. Management must be notified in advance if production will need to go into overtime. Overtime rates will be applied in accordance with the executed contract.
